Why COZ Radio?
Years ago, there was a rock station in Boston, WCOZ. Originally an easy listening station called "Cozy", in the mid-70s it became a progressive rock station.
In the 80s, it evolved to a hard rock station using the slogan, "Kick-ass Rock & Roll". That lasted a few years before the station went to a soft rock format and then, in 1984, disappeared to a Top-40 station.
That radio station, along with WRKO, WBCN, WFNX and others in Boston, made me a fan of radio and music.
Now, looking for a name for this station, I thought of those days and of a friend that has fond memories of being an intern at WCOZ.
While this COZ Radio is not in any way a re-creation of the legendary WCOZ, it is a nod to the influence it had on my life.
I hope you enjoy it.
